The Royal family of Mewar has been residing in this gigantic palace for years. The City Palace is the best among all Udaipur tourist places. Rana Udai Singh II started building this beautiful structure in 1553. Undoubtedly, From a defence point of view, the palace location is perfect, and there are lakes and mountains. Hence, Rana Udai decided to shift capital here and build his residence.

Moreover, this vast palace took almost 400 years to be completed. Of course, many kings of Mewar contributed a lot to construct the castle. Some part of the palace is now a hotel also. Now let us talk about what to see inside.

1. Manak chowk: This big open area is located outside the palace. Interestingly, the royal family uses this for celebration. Importantly, people can hire this for weddings also. Presently on the occasion of holi, they perform Holika Dahan here.

2. Museum: After entering Manak chowk you can see a museum there. Interestingly, there is a showcase of the excellent Mewar military’s history. If you are a history lover then, you should have a look. 

3. Oldest part of the palace: Rana Udai Singh II built this part. In this part, there are two sections. In the first section, you can see Great Maharana Pratap belongings. Surprisingly, a small temple of a saint is in the second section. According to history, this saint gave his blessing to construct the palace here. Indeed, if you want to see Maharana Pratap life, it is the best place in Udaipur to visit.

4. Coronation donation tank: It is a beautiful white marble tank. When there was a new king, they used to fill the tank with coins, and then after the coronation, they donated. Interestingly, in India, people usually contribute to the poor for the blessing of God.

5. Holi Chowk: It is a beautiful white marble section on the top of the place where you can find trees also. During those days, they used to play holi here. Notably, all the royal women played holi only with family members.

6. Lake and City view section: In this section, you can find famous historian Tod’s office, and on your right, there is a lake view. Interestingly, on your left, there is a city view. There are beautiful European tiles also. Moreover, you can see the three best Udaipur tourist places from here. For example, Lake Pichola, Whole city, and Palace.

7. Seesh mahal: It is a small glass palace located near the paintings hall. The beauty of glasses and their reflection is just so beautiful. Surprisingly, they only used one candle to light up.

8. Other things to watch: This palace is so big. Interestingly, You will come across many small rooms, and there are many small museums inside. Apart from this, you can watch beautiful paintings and tiles.

IMPORTANT THINGS BEFORE GOING: This palace has two entrances. First is Tripolia gate, Second is Mata mandir entrance. Outside of Tripolia, there is a Bazar. On the other hand, lake Pichola is at the Mata mandir entrance. I suggest you take the Mata mandir entrance and buy tickets (300/- palace museum, 30/- lake entrance). Notably, you can take beautiful pictures of the lake in the morning.

NOTE : 30 RUPEES ENTRANCE TICKET IS VALID FOR WHOLE DAY. YOU CAN ENJOY BOAT RIDE AT EVENING.

After entering the Mata mandir gate, you can do three things. First, take pictures of lake Pichola and enjoy the lake view. Second, visit the city palace. Following, take exit from tripolia gate, and see bazars there. Surprisingly, you can reenter with the same ticket (30/-) from Tripolia gate. If you wish to boat ride in the Evening.

SAHELIYON KI BAARI GARDEN

Saheliyon ki Bari is the best among Udaipur tourist places for relaxing. Undoubtedly, Udaipur’s natural beauty is beautiful, and this garden is a perfect example of relaxation with nature. Interestingly, the history of this place is all about the marriage of King and Queen.

According to history, Maharana Sangram Singh ordered the garden for his bride Queen in 1734. Noticeably, 48 maids accompanied with Queen. Hence, Maharana Gifted this beautiful green garden to them. Queen used to come here along with maids to enjoy. There are water channels connected with Fateh Sagar lake.

They call Udaipur ” The city of lakes”, and lake Pichola is the major attraction of Udaipur. This beautiful sight of Udaipur will make you speechless. After seeing the view, you will realize the magic of Udaipur. It will help if you go there to witness the sunset view in the evening. Notably, it is one of the perfect Udaipur tourist places to watch the sunset.

According to history, In 1362, local people created this artificial lake. There was a village, Pichola, and as a result, they named it Pichola lake. When Rana Udai Singh II saw the beauty of this place, he could not stop himself to built the capital here.

In addition, if you want to enjoy a boat ride from City Palace, you have to buy a 30 rupees entrance ticket to go to the boat ride point. Apart from the 30 rupees entrance ticket, you also have to buy a boat ticket. You ONLY can visit Jagmandir island after buying boat ride tickets from the palace.

JAG MANDIR ISLAND

Jag Mandir island

This beautiful Pichola lake has few islands. Surprisingly, the Kings of Mewar built palaces on those islands. Famous islands are Jag Niwas and jag mandir. Jag Niwas is now Hotel lake palace. On the other hand, the Jag mandir is still open to the public. If you buy a boat ride from the castle, you can visit Jag mandir island. Indeed, you can not find a perfect place than Jag Mandir to enjoy tea among all Udaipur tourist places.

Interestingly, on Jag Mandir Island, Emperor Shahjahan spent a few months. He rebelled against his father, Emperor Jahangir. He came here to ask to stay in Udaipur, and it was Rana Karan Singh gave him a stay.

Moreover, If you want to visit this beautiful palace, you should buy boat ride tickets from the court. I suggest you enjoy a boat ride during sunset because 30 rupees entrance ticket is valid for the entire day.

JAGDISH TEMPLE UDAIPUR

As the name suggests, Jagdish temple belongs to Vishnu. In Hinduism, there is the concept of tridev ( Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh ). Maharana Jagat Singh built this Jagdish temple in the 17th century outside the royal palace.

People call Udaipur “The City of Lakes” there should not be only one lake. There is Fateh Sagar, a beautiful artificial lake here in Udaipur, and there are many restaurants on the shore of the Sagar. According to people, it is one of the best Udaipur tourist places to have lunch.

There was an old lake before Fateh Sagar. Unfortunately, a flood washed away the lake. Maharana Fateh Singh decided to build a dam in 1889 to restore the lake. Interestingly, there was a visit of Connaught of Duke ( British empire Dukes). King Fateh Singh named dam after Connaught.

Moreover, you can enjoy boat riding here too. There are many restaurants on the bank of the lake, and this place is perfect for photography also.

Notably, there are 19 chattris of 19 Maharanas, and all these Maharanas were cremated here. Suprisingly, they have been using this place for 350 years continuously. Chittorgarh tourist places near Udaipur

CHITTORGARH FORT :  Chittorgarh was the previous capital of Mewar. The main attraction of the city is the hill fort. Interestingly, This gigantic fort is among the largest forts in India. Apart from this, there are many temples, palaces, and water bodies inside the fort. Notably, Fort was very old in the 8th century, and Bappa Rawal captured this fort. It is 116 km from Udaipur.

 

Kumbhalgarh fort near Udaipur

KUMBHALGARH FORT : KUMBHALGARH FORT : This colossal fort is another example of an Indian artist’s mastery. Rana Kumbha of Mewar constructed this fort in the 15th century. Noticebly, the fort wall is the second largest wall in the world, first is Chinese great wall. Kumbhalgarh fort is also the second-largest fort in India, Largest is Chittorgarh. In Addition, Inside the fort, there are palaces and temples. If the distance is not the problem, it is wonderful place to visit near Udaipur for fort lovers. Distance between Udaipur and fort is 84 km.

Ranakpur temple near Udaipur

Ranakpur Jain Temple: It is about 93 km from Udaipur. You will enjoy the journey between Udaipur and Ranakpur because you will go through the mountains. Notably, a local businessman Dharna Shah built this enormous temple in 1389 under the rule of Rana Kumbha. They dedicated this white marble temple to Rishabanatha.

Ekling Ji Temple: This temple is 20 km far away from Udaipur. Interestingly, Eklingji is the main deity of the King of Udaipur. Especially, Bappa Rawal built the first temple in the 8th century here. After that, diffrent rulers of Mewar rebuilt the temple again from time to time.

Sas Bahu Temple: This temple is around 20 km from Udaipur. Importantly, King Mahipala built this in the 9th to 10th century. The artwork is fantastic here. In addition, you also can see other temples of Vishnu, Saraswati, etc.

Mount Abu: This beautiful Hill station is in southern Rajasthan, and it is around 160 km from Udaipur. Moreover, you also can visit the dilwara Jain temples.

By Air:  There is Maharana Pratap international airport in Udaipur. Certainly, you can book your tickets from major Indian cities.

By Train: Udaipur railway station has many trains from lots of cities. Undoubtedly, you can book your birth from your town to Udaipur.

By Road: Udaipur is Between Delhi and Mumbai. Surprisingly, the Distance is around 800 km from Delhi and Mumbai.
